Sally

Sally (not her real name) started at Spurgeons in PrePrimary2. She was previously at another school but the school fees became too high. Thankfully her mother heard about the child sponsorship programme at Spurgeons, on which Sally got accepted, and she has been at the school ever since.

Sally is the 7th of 8 children, and her younger sister also attends Spurgeons. Some of her older siblings also attended for a while, once her mother knew about the school, but unfortunately the oldest three children never made it to school as they were too old to attend by the time their mother found this affordable option.

Having completed her primary education at Spurgeons, Sally will go on to High School. She wants to become a doctor so that she can treat the sick, and try to reduce the many preventable deaths that she sees in Kenya.

Spurgeons is a real motivation for Sally as she has seen it grow and expand in terms of number of pupils. She says ‘the teachers are so inspiring, they just keep on giving us such a quality education and empowering us kids to continue our studies because of sponsorship’.

Sally loves it when ANNOS Africa come to visit, especially the music that they bring. ‘I’ve been taught to play drums and guitar and singing. It’s nice of visitors to come and join us because then we don’t feel left out, and it’s something special to be able to tell other students about from other schools’ Would you like to sponsor a child, like Sally, and make a big difference in their life now and bring hope for the future To find out more about sponsoring a child at Spurgeons Academy please visit www.globalcare.org.
